State Sets Aside $2.5 Million for Bridge

The allocation is part of almost $1 billion in grants for 135 projects throughout the state.

Caltrans will fund a number of transportation projects in the region, including plans to keep the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge in the best shape possible.

The state has identified $2.5 million for roadway maintenance on the span and the painting of four bridge segments. The details, according to Caltrans, include a “rehab (of the) deck and pier fender panels to extend the bridge service life.”

The overall transportation funding includes $600 million from Proposition 1B, a bond measure voters approved six years ago. Nearly $14 billion has been allocated to projects since then.
