San Diego ‘Navy Mayor’ Comes to Town – Meet Rear Adm. Patrick Lorge

Lorge is coming from Washington D.C. to take over Navy Region Southwest, which includes Naval Base Coronado.

The new Navy mayor has hit town.

10News.com reports that the Navy celebrated the arrival of Rear Admiral Patrick Lorge, who is taking over for Rear Adm. Dixon Smith, in San Diego.

Lorge's real title is head of Navy Region Southwest – Naval Base Coronado is part of the command – but the job has long been nicknamed Navy mayor.

Lorge, according to the report, is a F-14 pilot who has never been stationed in San Diego before. He's coming from an assignment in Washington D.C. and is ready for the transition.

“Here you are knee-deep in operational Navy and that's not a bad thing at all,” he told the station.
