Update: Lanes Open, Traffic Cleared on Bridge After 2-Car Wreck

City reports lanes are open following serious backup due to crash, but traffic is still slow and go.

Updated 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, with all lanes open following crash.

Bridge traffic is moving again and lanes are open after a wreck caused a clog as rush hour began.

A Toyota and a GMC crashed on the San Diego-Coronado Bridge leading to a backup and response from the California Highway Patrol and the Coronado Fire Department.

The crash was reported between the Arcadia and the 4Runner at almost 3:50 p.m. Tow trucks were called in, according to the CHP's online log.

The CHP issued a warning: “Slow traffic until further notice.” The city reported at 5:30 p.m. that lanes were no longer blocked, but cars were moving at speeds as low as 20 mph approaching Interstate 5. By 6 p.m. traffic was moving freely in east- and westbound lanes.

No serious injuries were reported.
