Video: Former SEAL, Author Rorke Denver, to Be on Conan O'Brien Show

Denver, who is promoting his book in the region through next week, was in La Jolla Wednesday. His Conan appearance is set for Monday.

Rorke Denver, a former Navy SEAL who is now on tour promoting his book, Damn Few, has scored a coup: He will appear on Conan O'Brien's TBS show Monday.

But is he funny? We'll soon see.

Denver, who was also one of the real life SEALs who starred in the 2012 film Act of Valor, has made the rounds in the region signing his memoir, which hit No. 10 on the New York Times bestseller list this month.

His San Diego County (and other scheduled) appearances:

  • At the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar at 11 a.m. Thursday.
  • On O'Brien's show, Conan, Monday, which Denver announced on Facebook and Twitter. The show airs at 11 p.m.
  • At the Oceanside Barnes & Noble at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

At his La Jolla signing, Denver spoke to a standing-room only audience, whose members asked him about how to determine one's enemy, how he feels about the possibility of female SEALs (he's skeptical, which he explains in an article he wrote for Fox News) and the moral challenge of war.

He's thankful, he said that he never “was in an engagement where I thought we were in the moral or ethical middle ground.“

Denver discussed the Navy SEALs' recent exposure in films and books with Fox5 San Diego Wednesday, and said he does not think the attention will endanger future missions. His book was vetted and cleared by the Pentagon, he told the station.

“I think the conversation has been safe at this point,” he told Fox5.

He also told UT-San Diego that he'd be pleased if his daughters wanted to serve in the miliary, but he knows families bear the brunt of worry and fear on the homefront.

“I'd be honored and a mess at the same time,” he said.
