These are some of the choice options if you're looking for fun things to do and see with your family in Coronado and San Diego from March 9-15. You also can drop off your teen for a night with friends or take a day trip to see another celebration of the Navy aviation centennial.

BEST BETS CLOSE TO HOME

  • Where/when: Coronado Community Center, Coronado, 6 p.m. Friday.
  • Why Go: To give your teen some hang-out time, where he or she can enjoy snacks, video games and snacks during Friday Night on the Strand.
  • Price: $10-12.
  • Where/when: Tidelands Park, Coronado, 10 a.m. Saturday.
  • Why Go: Pug owners opt to celebrate St. Pugtrick's Day rather than St. Patrick's Day by offering prizes, games and the opportunity to dress your pet up as a leprechaun or just in a lot of green. Go for it.
  • Price: Free. 

BEST BETS, A LITTLE FARTHER OUT

  • Where/when: Balboa Park Activity Center, San Diego, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Why Go: To take part in a huge rummage sale by the Thursday Club. Toys and games will abound and while you pick up something for the kids, more than a dozen local arts groups and organizations that aid women, the disabled and pets will benefit too.
  • Price: Free.
  • Where/when: Qualcomm Hall, Sorrento Valley, 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
  • Why Go: Little girls love their “American Girl” dolls and here a lucky few will be able to dress in period costume just like their favorites. Or at least watch the runway action as the “American Girl” Fashion Show, to benefit UCSD's neonatal unit, takes place.
  • Price: $35-$100.

  • Where/when: Naval Air Facility, El Centro, 9 a.m., Saturday.
  • Why Go: If the Navy's big air show last month whetted your appetite for more and you can't wait for the Miramar Air Show in September, here's an option. NAF El Centro's Air Show  continues the celebration of the Navy aviation centennial.
  • Price: Free.
