Editor's Note: The Coronado Police Department released the following announcement on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

The Coronado Police Department is asking for your assistance in helping to reduce your chances of being a victim of a residential burglary. We are asking for residents to check their doors and windows to ensure they are closed and locked whenever they leave their house, even for very short periods of time. This includes small bathroom and bedroom windows and sliding glass doors.

There has been a recent residential burglary series in the east portion of the Village, where unknown suspect(s) are entering homes through unlocked doors and windows and taking small property. The break-ins have occurred during the day and we believe the burglar(s) may be watching and waiting for people to leave their homes, even if it’s just a few minutes to walk the dog or go to the store.
