Coronado Arsonist Lights Up Holidays in Worst Way

An arsonist stole holiday decorations from a Coronado residence and set it on fire last week.

Coronado Police reported that the suspect, who appears to be a white male, used a propane cylinder and a can of lighter fluid to light a Christmas wreath and holiday packages ablaze inside The Point Condominium complex on the 1100 block of First Avenue. The objects were then left in a raised cinderblock planter box.

The incident took place between 4:33 and 6:04 a.m., Dec. 10 and no significant damages were reported. 

The suspect, who was captured on video surveillance, also threw a concrete ashtray into a fountain at Centennial Park. 

He is wanted for arson, vandalism and petty theft.

Police believe this incident may be linked to two other reports of arson in Coronado. An unknown suspect set a pile of dead, discard palm fonds on fire on the corner of Ocean Boulevard and Loma Avenues between Dec. 9 and Dec. 10. And an unknown suspect set a recycling bin on fire on the 1000 block of Park Place around 7 p.m., Dec. 11.
