The school serves about 700 students in grades 6 through 8, and it shares its state-of-the-art athletic facilities with the nearby high school. CMS strives to provide an optimal learning environment for its students. Its classrooms are equipped with the latest technology and a wireless network runs throughout the campus. The school also participates in a voluntary laptop program, which allows students to bring their personal computers to school.

The school was founded in 1922, and its most recent set of renovations was completed in 2006. </p> <p>In 2009, CHS scored higher than any other comprehensive high school in the county, according to the state's Academic Performance Index (API).</p> <p>In addition, thanks to the support of the community and local nonprofits, the school runs a full athletic program, with state-of-the-art football, baseball, tennis and aquatic facilities.
