Known for its rigorous academic standards, the local high school serves about 1,100 students in grades 9 – 12.…More CHS is fully accredited by the State of California and is a California Distinguished School, a National Blue Ribbon School and a New American High School. The school was founded in 1922, and its most recent set of renovations was completed in 2006. </p> <p>In 2009, CHS scored higher than any other comprehensive high school in the county, according to the state's Academic Performance Index (API).</p> <p>In addition, thanks to the support of the community and local nonprofits, the school runs a full athletic program, with state-of-the-art football, baseball, tennis and aquatic facilities. There is also a resident School of the Arts (CoSA) located on campus.</p>
