Proper nutrition is not important to athletes in vulnerable communities.
Barbara Yost May 4, 2013 at 02:52 pm
I fail to see what food stamps have anything to do with the Olympics.
Mary May 1, 2013 at 12:01 am
TIL - I nominate you for "Christian Humanitarian" of the Year. I guess you think itRead More better to let children die of malnutrition. Again not on topic as usual.

I first swam in the Pacific Ocean in late summer of 45, Rode the bus for 4 hours to get grom where IRead More lived to Hunington Beach to spend the day and did so often till we moved to San Diego in 48, I had come home, Riding the bus at first to Mission Beach at first then I discovered La Jolla, Truely the Jewel of this area. Making my first compressed air dive in 51, I had found a life calling. Joining the Corps at 17 and spending the next 6 or so Years all over the Pacific I got a chance to see a lot of magical dive sites, Japan, The Phillippines, Hawaii, Midway island, Life is not long enough for one person to see it all. I continued to dive into my 60's till I had an accident which ended my diving life, I really miss it but life goes on. This was a wonderful item Serge I enjoyed it a lot and it brought back many memories

How many people normally call in sick on Mondays, regardless of there being a sports event onRead More Sunday? I want to know if 1.5 million sick and 4 million late to work is 10x the normal amount or if it's about average.
Jane Tanaka MD January 29, 2013 at 02:10 am
Ah.. ofcourse! Thank you.
Libi Uremovic January 29, 2013 at 01:50 am
they have two years to file, but that doesn't effect how long the proceedings can drag out...itRead More takes prosecuting attorneys three years to get a court date... ...then both sides start piling on the motions... for the attorney - there's no money in going to court because it takes up too much of their time.....the big bucks are in the paperwork...
Jane Tanaka MD January 28, 2013 at 11:50 pm
Isnt there a statute of limitations of 2 years in a non-medical wrongful death case in the State ofRead More California? The suit was file here in San Diego, per the pdf .

9:43 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2013 Prior to the 2012 Football Season, the American Academy ofRead More Neurology published, in the journal Neurology, a study of 3500 professional football players, and found that professional football players are 4 times as likely to develop ALS ( Lou Gehrig's disease), and also had higher risk of developing Parkinson's Disease and Alzheimers Disease, compared to the general public. Attorneys did not make this up. Its important that parents know this prior to signing up their kids for football.. yes, it can happen even in middle school or high school or college... Its not a laughing matter. If you are a parent who wants your kid to be in football, consider making sure they will be the quarterback or kicker... unless the game changes to reduce repetitive head injuries. Respectfully, Jane Tanaka MD.

it'a all about the lawyer's fighting about 1 word ,no matter what the truth is ,it's about one wordRead More ,and the win ,who's idea was the lawsuit ,A LAWYER'S IDEA

"Da Moose" January 29, 2013 at 01:34 pm
Like I said in my Closing "Junior Seau ,Worlds Greatest football Player ,But just another Ca.Read More DMV Driver."
"Da Moose" January 29, 2013 at 01:28 pm

here's another shocker - why it took 10 years to indict this crook i'll never understand.... butRead More better late than never.... '..A federal grand jury in New Orleans on Friday indicted the city's former Mayor Ray Nagin on 21 corruption-related charges, including bribery, conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering and filing false tax returns...'
Libi Uremovic January 19, 2013 at 10:16 am
the problem is that it's no longer a 'certain percentage' ....deviance has become an acceptable partRead More of our culture in the last 30 years... it's become an addiction.... and we can see the results of our actions in our now 3rd world country... when i talked to mayor janney .... he was giving me all of his excuses until i asked him point blank: 'if ib is nothing more than a bedroom community why did you put this city into massive debt when the state & country is in economic decline ?'.... ..he just stared at me .... i could tell it never occurred to him to put the best interests of the people before his own greed.... it never occurred to him to think about where money comes from or if anything the profiteers were selling him was of any value to the community.... i ask you ed....have you ever visited a city because of the 'fancy curbs' ...or to walk down a dark street because not one person that works for the city understands the term 'pedestrian lighting'...? the elected and appointed officials took the bribes and payoffs ....the profiteers sold unnecessary crap because they're not paying for it and have no risk ....they just push the expenses on to the tax payer....the banks gave loans to cities on the theory that the tax payer will pick up the tab when the loans default ...again....

The best surf Movie? "5 summer stories" is my favorite. The Chuck Dent rant is timeless inRead More that movie. Throw in some psychedelic animation and Jerry Lopez. It is the best! Also contains great early 70's skaters and equipment. All Bruce Browns films are great! including on any Sunday! Bruce knew it is all about having fun. The movie "Longer" shows why Joel Tudor is the greatest/smoothest longboarder alive. Would like to see this shown at Pier Plaza some warm summer night. And honorable mention "The Gathering". 2002 movie about the Margaritaville/ Longboard magazine contest in IB and Oceanside. Oh Yea Joel is in that too.

What about Saturday Morning kids shows like Sigmund and The Sea Monsters? Jabberjaw, Speed Buggy andRead More of course Flipper comes to mind as well. I know the Elvis films are pretty dated but Clambake was a real hoot! Frankie and Annette as well, but I'm pretty certain the old Bruce Brown films are a guilty pleasure to more than a few around here. It's ok, you don't need to hide your continued indulgence in the innocent perfection which they were, even though you can't help but get head swirling pride when reveling at the new school epics like Step Into Liquid, Riding Giants and Highwater. ;)
