Naval Air Station North Island

The Naval Air Station North Island is the homeport of 23 fixed and rotary-wing squadrons and two aircraft carriers. It also hosts 80 tenant activities and commands, which include the Naval Aviation Depot and U.S. Naval Air Forces. Lieutenant Theodore Ellyson, the Navy's first aviator, trained at Naval Air Station North Island, making it the official birthplace of Naval Aviation.
