Patch Pets: Sweet Pea and Star

One is tiny and one is bigger, but both like to cuddle and play.

Meet Sweet Pea and Star.

Sweet Pea is a 7-year-old female Chihuahua, about 6-7 pounds. Her coat has the look of a Cattle Dog with its mix of colors around the neck and head. A name couldn't suit a dog more; she's a tiny teaspoon of sugar just waiting to sweeten your day.

Her personality is one of love and cuddles, eager to take your affection and return it in double scoops. She's quiet, loves to cuddle and burrow her little nose in the crook of your neck. If you aren't already sold, just look into those coal black eyes, they grab your heart on first meeting.

Star is the cutest mix of what we think to be Beagle and Basenji. She's six months old and 33 pounds in size. White and tan in coloring, she is a beautiful girl with a matching personality.

Her passion is to sit next to you, roll onto her back, waiting for that expected tummy rub that goes with executing her favorite trick. Smiling comes easily to this adorable face. Having good manners and knowing basic commands makes her a well-behaved companion, one who can go anywhere with you.

This young lady will do well with children; she is gentler than most puppies. Star has shown an ability to get along with other dogs.

You can meet these two and other pets available for adoption at the Coronado Animal Care Facility, 1395 First St. Hours of operation are 9 a.m.-4 p.m., everyday but major holidays. To see and read about other animals needing homes, please view our websites: pawsofcoronado.org and petfinder.com.

All our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on their immunizations prior to their adoption. PAWS of Coronado would like to announce our new program, Feline Baby Boomers /Senior to Senior Adoption. Cats of 10-plus years adopted to parents 55 and over get a reduced fee of $35 for the first cat, $15 for the second.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
