MainStreet Hosts Party at Baby Del
The annual fall event was held at the local landmark to raise money to support Coronado gardens.
Coronado MainStreet held its 20th Annual Garden Party at the Baby Del Saturday.
Baby Del owner Susan Heavilin couldn’t have been more pleased to open her garden to the community after a long absence. “It’s great,” she said.
While Heavilin provided the grounds, the heavily lifting came from the 75 local businesses that sponsored the event and the Main Street board members who volunteered their time. Thirty-five local restaurants provided the food, creating a mini-taste of Coronado.

Chief among these was the Hotel del Coronado. “They’ve been with us from the beginning and provided all the equipment for the event,” Sarich said. Althea & Company entertained the 300 guests with music from the '60s and early '70s. Even Mother Nature pitched in, providing a bright sun and cool breezes.
The event raised over $20,000, Sarich said. Proceeds pay for the cost of the maintaining the city’s 16 median gardens.
