What the Heck Is Pickleball? Learn at Free Class in Coronado

Wondering what pickleball is all about? We were too! But lucky for us, we can all learn about pickleball at a free class at the Coronado Community Center on Jan. 23.

For now, Patch will do it's best to explain the fast-growing sport. Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton, ping pong and racquetball. The USA Pickleball Association said that the game is with a ball similar to a Wiffle Ball and wood or composite paddles on a badminton court with a lowered net.

"It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players," the USA Pickleball Association said on its site.

The City will host a free introduction class to pickleball at the Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way, on Thursday, Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Adults and seniors are welcome. Attendees will be provided equipment to learn.
