San Diego County Fair Food: Bacon Beer

Patch reviewed several new food items at the 2013 San Diego County Fair.

This story was written and reported by Del Mar-Carmel Valley Patch Editor Michelle Mowad.

Bacon is definitely a theme at this year's San Diego County Fair. It comes in many forms too. From cotton candy flavored bacon to bacon kabobs, but one surprising treat at this year's fair is the bacon beer.

The bacon beer is non-alcoholic. It is very simple too. It is ice cold root beer served with a bacon swizzle stick. The crispy bacon make it easy to stir the root beer or fish it out and snack.

You can find the bacon beer at Bacon A-Fair, which can be found on the Concourse and Skyway.

And if you are a true bacon lover, don't miss the Big Bite Bacon Fest at the San Diego County Fair on Sunday, June 16. The event has samples of bacon cuisine from local San Diego restaurants. Tickets, which include Fair admission, are $55 or $80 for VIP tickets.

The San Diego County Fair runs June 8 through July 4 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds are located at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar.
