Soccer: Islander Girls Join Boys as CIF Finalists

A 2-0 win over Francis Parker sends Coronado into Saturday's championship match with Bishop's.

The Coronado High girls soccer team matched the boys' feat of making the CIF San Diego Section Division IV championship game with a 2-0 semifinal win over Francis Parker on Wednesday. The second-seeded Islanders will face top-seeded Bishop's in Saturday's 4 p.m. final at Cathedral Catholic High.

Stephanie Hamilton had both goals for the Islanders (12-6-4), with Cory Demarco posting the shutout in goal.

The top-seeded Coronado boys team (23-1) edged Bishop's 3-2 on Tuesday in the semifinals and will face Francis Parker (17-2-3) in Saturday's 6:30 p.m. Division IV final at Cathedral Catholic.
