Costumed Runners Conquer 200-Mile Road Race

Teams ran from Huntington Beach to Silver Strand State Beach over two days of racing along some of the country’s most scenic terrain.

The is an overnight run that tests the limits of teams of six to 12 people, each of whom runs three legs of the 200-mile route, which concluded at Silver Strand State Beach Saturday.

The legs of the race vary in difficulty and distance, from 3-8 miles, allowing both elite and novice runners to be involved over the course's two days, including one night.

The teams also have a chance to run in crazy costumes, to make the event lively and fun, as well. Ragnar is associated with the 24-year-old Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training, the official charity of the race.

It has grown to be the largest and most successful endurance sports training program for runners and public awareness competitions.

Team “'Nado Big Deal” represented Coronado. For a glimpse of the competitors, their attire, and their camaraderie, see the media box.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
