Athletes competing in the half marathon (13.1 miles) went from in Coronado to in Imperial Beach. The 5K took place in Imperial Beach.

Some people ran wearing a tutu or carrying their baby for the 5K.

One man, disc jockey Allen Walker, jogged the 13 mile half marathon playing music like the P-Funk All Stars’ “Flashlight.”

Andrew Mower from Clairemont stopped at  in Imperial Beach for some Mexican food after finishing the half marathon in just under two hours.

“I had a fast start but tapered off in the end,” he said.

Mower said he enjoys the endurance sport for “the runner’s high. I like staying in shape, just feeling good and like you’ve accomplished something.”
