Islanders Home Opener Moved Up to 3 p.m. Kickoff

The Coronado High varsity football team has moved up Friday's home opener at Neidermeyer Field from a 7:30 p.m. kickoff to a 3 p.m. start.

"The school district's thought is not to overload the system," said Islanders coach Tony Isabella, noting that after Thursday's widespread power outage, the school wants to do its part to conserve energy by not using the lights required for a night game. "We're happy to oblige."

Coronado will try to improve its record to 2-0 against Canadian opponent Ross Sheppard, a school from Edmonton, Alberta. The Islanders used a last-second field goal by Robby Weissenfels to edge St. Margaret's 16-13 in their opener on Saturday in San Juan Capistrano.
