Islander Girls Blank La Jolla to Win Soccer Regional

Coronado claims the SoCal Regional championship 3-0 with Ali Culora's quick goal sparking the victory.

Coronado High’s Ali Culora picked a great time to score her first goal of the season as far as the Islanders are concerned.

The senior forward sparked the Coronado girls soccer team to the Southern California Regional Division II championship by scoring off the opening possession barely 10 seconds into the Islanders' 3-0 victory over Western League foe La Jolla High. The game was played Friday evening at Warren High School in Downey.

Fourth-seeded Coronado (16-6-4), which had split a pair of league games with the second-seeded Vikings (16-5-3), overcame an injury-plagued season to win a tournament in which it had lost in the semis the past two years.
