Nearly 40 Coronadans Among 10,000 Who Competed in Carlsbad Marathon

The sold-out event took place Sunday with 2,000 entries in the marathon and 8,000 in the half marathon.

With the roads still slick from rain, thousands pounded the pavement Sunday for the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half Marathon.

Nine Coronado residents  – five women and four men – participated in the marathon; 29 Coronadans – 12 women and 17 men – ran the half marathon. One of them was Coronado High School water polo coach Randy Burgess.
