Coronado Native Taylor Jensen Slips; Places 9th at World Longboard Championship

The Association of Surfing Professional's World Longboard Championship was held in China from Nov. 25 to Nov. 29.

Taylor Jensen, a Coronado native and local surfing legend, placed 9th at the Riyue Bay ASP World Longboard Championship in China this week. Jensen, 29, held back to back World Longboard championships in 2012 and 2011. He was beat by Piccolo Clemente of Peru.

On his website, Jensen posted "When it comes to competition, sometimes u win and sometimes u loose. Today I lost…. But….When it comes to life if you have moments like this your always winning!"

Jensen entered his first surf contest in 1997 and took second. He turned pro at 17 and has won every major professional longboarding event around the world at least once, according to his profile.
