Update: Running With a Scenic View

Cars took a backseat Sunday as crowds hit the San Diego-Coronado Bridge for the Navy's annual Bay Bridge Run/Walk.

Update, 9:15 p.m. Sunday, with nearly 50 new photos.

The Navy's 26th Original Bay Bridge Run/Walk took place Sunday morning, giving runners of all ages, moms and dads with strollers, wounded warriors and anyone else who took up the challenge the chance to take in the lovely panorama that Coronado offers.

The event supports the Navy's Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs, which offers services for active duty and retired military, reservists, their family and civilian employees.

The 4-mile run/walk began near the San Diego Convention Center, made its way down to Barrio Logan and over the bridge to conclude in Tidelands Park. Runners there could take a breath and enjoy a festival, complete with music, food, gifts and, whew, much deserved massages to soothe those aching muscles.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
