Island-Stylin' The Blog: Your Beauty & Charity; A Firework~

Sometimes Beauty is like this year's "Big Bay Boom"; Suddenly, We Got It! Flash & Bang and then nothing. Just moment of Beauty. Sometimes, Raw Truth is all you get.

Ralph Waldo Emerson informs us that, “Truth, and Goodness, and Beauty are but different faces of The Same All.” I tend to agree. Margaret would have agreed too.

As we all stood watching in anticipation of this year’s 2012, “Big Bay Boom”; Suddenly, We Got It!  Flash Bang Magnificence and then nothing.

Margaret would have understood that too. She’d have said that “Some times, Dearest, That’s All there is.”

She’d have moved us swiftly out of the crowds, into her 1St Street Condominium, on San Diego Bay, and offered fresh strawberry short cake with hand-whipped-cream, along side, red and blue Jello-Jigglers on patriotic plates and Star Spangled Napkins, and laughed while serving Root-Beer Floats.

Sometimes a moment of Beauty is It. Sometimes, Goodness travels alone. Sometimes, Raw Truth is all you get. “Whoosh, just for a moment there’s all that Brilliance.” Then there’s nothing. No explanations, no follow-up, no consolation, nor anything else.

For many, that’s what Margaret’s cancer seemed, something that swooshed in and took her luster and her life, leaving nothing. But I understand differently now. She’d seen it differently too.

She was a patriotic soul and loved each Independence Day for what it had to offer. In light of this year’s Fourth of July events, she’d be glad that none were harmed, be glad to have seen any fireworks what-so-ever. She’d remind us that we are each reflections and facets of The All, The Great Ever-After, of God.

Margaret Ringelberg Speyer passed Oct. 12th, 2007, yet she lives on in the life of her daughter KelliAnna and in the many hearts and memories of those she touched during more-than twenty years of service to the Beauty Industry.

I am grateful to have known her and am inspired by her today. She would be delighted by your involvement and support of your own local cancer society or other chosen charity.
