Four Environmentally Friendly Back-to-School Tips

Want to live greener? Consider this advice when heading back to school.

Still have back-to-school shopping? If you're interested in the environment, here's some advice from Waste Management of San Diego on Mother Nature-friendly habits worth adopting this school year.

  • Pack a lunch with reusable gear: Buy a reusable lunch box or recycle those brown paper bags. Doing this will also help families save money on food.
  • Purchase products made from recycled materials: Buy products that can be recycled like an ink cartridge that can be refilled rather than buying a new one.
  • Utilize carpools or public transportation: Team up with another family and carpool your children to school. Or even better, use public transportation.
  • Turn off and unplug appliances when you are not using them: Turn off those desktop computers, lights and other appliances when no one's around to use them.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
