Bollywood Nights is Prom Theme, But CHS Keeps Lid on Sexy Dancing

Coronado High permission form bars sexually explicit dancing, such as grinding and freaking.

Bollywood is India’s Hollywood—although not a physical place. It gets physical, however, in its musicals and romances.

But when it comes to Bollywood Nights, the theme for Coronado High School’s senior prom April 13, certain contact is forbidden.

The prom is at the Bahia Hotel off Mission Bay, and a signup form demands explicit promises.

“I understand that sexually explicit dancing (‘grinding,’ ‘freaking’) is not permitted, and I may be removed from the dance floor and kept in a separate room if I engage in inappropriate dancing (at discretion of CHS Administration),” the form says.

Tickets are on sale through April 8, and the price is $80 with an ASB card and $85 without. Dinner is included.

But between April 9 and 11, limited tickets are available for $100, according to the school flier [attached].

Parents are expected to initial parts of the form as well.

“I agree not to furnish or condone the use of illegal drugs or alcohol for my son/daughter prior to and in transit to and from the dance,” the form says.

School officials also expect prom-goers to agree that “I understand that cutting school on Friday, April 12th, or Monday, April 15th, will not be tolerated.”
