Video: Returning Serviceman Meets Daughter for First Time
Lance Cpl. Tyler Welty was one of about 200 Marines who arrived home from a seven-month deployment to Afghanistan.
Some 200 members of the 1st Marine Division’s 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion returned from Afghanistan over Memorial Day weekend.
The unit spent seven months in the embattled Helmand River Valley training Afghan police and border police.
Those security forces are on track to becoming fully independent, according to battalion commander Lt. Col. George Schreffler.

The unit lost two Marines during combat operations. Cpl. Roberto Cezarez, 24, of Harbor City, CA died March 30 and Lance Cpl. Ramon T. Kaipat, 22, of Tacoma, died April 11.
