While Mayor Casey Tanaka, 36, and Councilwoman Barbara Denny, 49, face off in the mayoral race this November, four others are competing for two council seats.
The mayoral race features a widely expected match-up. In the council race, Councilwoman Carrie Downey is termed out, but incumbent Mike Woiwode is seeking a second term.
Woiwode, 65, is an engineer, who runs his own consulting business. The challengers are:
- Richard Bailey, 26, a financial analysist with Goodrich Aerospace;
- Susan Keith, 70, a community volunteer;
- Jean Roesch, who did not give her age, is an educator who currently serves on Southwestern College's board.
