Sailor From Amphib Base Dies in Afghanistan

The 24-year-old Cottonwood resident was assigned to a Marine unit in Helmand province.

 

The U.S. Department of Defense today announced that a Coronado-based sailor was killed in combat in Afghanistan.

Petty Officer 1st Class Chad R. Regelin, 24, of Cottonwood, Calif., was killed in Helmand province Monday.

He was assigned to Marine Special Operations Company Bravo as an explosive ordnance disposal technician, according to the Department of Defense.

Regelin was stationed at Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 3 at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, Navy officials said.
