Peters' Lead Looks Solid, Will Likely Face Bilbray in Fall

Peters has maintained his election night lead over closest opponent Lori Saldana in the race to fill the 52nd District Congressional seat.

Though the results are not official, Scott Peters is likely to be the opponent in the 52nd Congressional District race against incumbent Rep. Brian Bilbray in November, according to a Tuesday report.

The North County Times said that Peters holds an 803-vote advantage over Lori Saldana, a fellow Democrat. That .

Bilbray is a Republican. Peters is a former San Diego City Council president and Saldana is a former state Assemblywoman.

The report also noted that the county Registrar of Voters said that 18,000 ballots remain to be counted throughout the region, but only a fraction of them remain for communities in the 52nd district.

The re-drawn district includes Coronado, La Jolla, Rancho Bernardo and Poway, among other local cities and communities.
