Nominate Local Champions of Open Government for Sunshine Week

Mark the celebration of government transparency next month by honoring someone from Coronado who has been open and honest with the community.

Patch is looking for local leaders who embrace Sunshine Week. Do you know people in Coronado who have championed local government transparency?

Coronado Patch is participating in Sunshine Week 2012, which begins on March 11, by promoting the Sunshine Week organization’s national Local Heroes contest.

We’ll also be covering and conversing with you about open government and freedom of information on the site that week—so stay tuned.

We want to kick off the conversation with a call to action to nominate local open government champions who have played a significant role fighting for transparency, offering answers about complex issues and not shying away from citizens' queries.

The deadline for nominations is March 7 so put this on your Must Do list. The winner will be honored in Washington, and we will share that information with you!

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
