UPDATE: ‘Home Alone‘ Actor's Art To Be on Bayfront

The piece, by Daniel Stern, also a sculptor, was accepted by the Design Review Commission; it will be placed outside the community center.

5:55 P.M. UPDATE: Stern's work was approved by the committee. A date for it to arrive has not been determined.

His co-stars have included Macaulay Culkin and Billy Crystal, but actor Daniel Stern stands alone as a sculptor.

The actor, who appeared in the Home Alone and City Slicker films, has had his art featured in galleries and public buildings throughout the state, and now has a piece up for consideration to be temporarily installed outside the Coronado Community Center.

The Design Review Commission will consider Stern's sculpture, “Handstand,” at its 3 p.m. Wednesday meeting. The panel also will consider a piece by artist Kim Ogburn, to be placed near the Boat House.

A subcommittee has recommended that both pieces be approved.

The actor, perhaps best known for his Home Alone role as one of the bumbling burglars foiled by young Culkin, also has appeared in Breaking Away, Diner and as the adult narrator of the TV comedy The Wonder Years.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
