Marker Dedication for the Birthplace of Naval Aviation

The Centennial of Naval Aviation continues in 2012 with a dedication ceremony Saturday.

Coronado residents are invited to come to the Marker Dedication for the Birthplace of Naval Aviation by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The special occassion (appropriately enough) will be held in Centennial Park at 1 p.m.

The marker is dedicated to those who made a difference in aviation, like inventor and entrepreneur Glenn Curtiss, who opened a flying school on North Coronado Island, and Navy Lieutenant Theodore G. "Spuds" Ellyson, the first Naval Aviator.
