County Board Approves $259,000 Contract for Incoming CAO

Helen N. Robbins-Meyer will succeed current CAO Walt Ekard on Dec. 1.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has approved an employment contract with the county's incoming chief administrative officer.

Under terms of the deal, which are posted on the county's website, Helen N. Robbins-Meyer, now the assistant chief administrative officer, will be paid $259,000 annually when she succeeds current CAO Walt Ekard on Dec. 1.

The contract bumps her salary to $274,000 on Dec. 1, 2013, and $289,000 on Dec. 1, 2014. The item was passed without comment by the supervisors.

Robbins-Meyer, of Poway, was appointed as the county's top staffer in August, shortly after Ekard announced his decision to step down. He has led the county government since 1999.

Robbins-Meyer has worked for the county since 1997.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
