Coronado City Council to Hold Second Budget Workshop

A budget workshop is the highlight of Tuesday's City Council Meeting.

The Coronado City Council is set to hold another at its meeting on Tuesday, where it will consider operating and capital improvement budgets, inter-fund loans, and community organization funding requests.

The council held an initial budget workshop in April, where council members discussed the broad approach, principles and applied techniques they planned to use to craft the 2011-2012 budget. The annual budget for the City of Coronado and the is due for approval at the council’s meeting on June 7.

At its meeting on Tuesday, the council, with input from the public, will have an opportunity to review the proposed budget and offer modifications.

The council will also consider grant requests from 18 community groups, including the , the , Coronado MainStreet, , the and Coronado Fourth of July.

In addition, the is requesting about $137,000 for the Coronado Response Group, elementary counseling and after-school homework programs.

The council will hold public hearings on the following matters: condominium ownership of two residences on E Avenue, a street improvement program for fiscal year 2011 through 2016, and adding the to the city’s conflict of interest code.

The council will also vote on whether to revise the city’s short-term parking ordinance and whether to offer a two-year contract 40-Love Tennis & Active Wear, which has applied to sell gear at the . 

The meeting will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the at 1825 Strand Way.
