Coronado Hires New Assistant Superintendent

At the same meeting the school board paid tribute to the district's outgoing assistant superintendent of finance and business services, her replacement was revealed.

Keith Butler will replace Randie Allen as the Coronado Unified School District’s assistant superintendent for finance and business services.

Superintendent Jeffrey Felix made the announcement Thursday at the school board meeting after coming to the decision to hire Butler the day before. Interviews had taken place earlier in the week.

Butler works as a consultant for business advisory services for the San Diego County Office of Education, where he oversees finances for the district. He has been in his current position three years.

He will take up his new post Jan. 9.

Previously he was senior program manager at Kaplan Virtual Education and associate dean of extended learning at California State University San Marcos. He also has private sector experience, as a banker and co-owner of a wholesale baking company.

Butler, 50, a native Californian, earned his doctorate at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
