Navy Warns Residents Could Hear Blank Weapons Fire Wednesday

The training that could cause the noise is set from 1-10 p.m. on the beaches south of the amphib base.

Residents should be aware that the Navy will conduct exercises Wednesday afternoon with blank weapons fire from 1-10 p.m. in the beach areas south of the Naval Amphibious Base.

The gunfire will include use of small arms and .50-cal blanks. The training also will involve Navy small boats from 5-10 p.m.

In a statement, the Navy said officials recognize “the importance of being good neighbors with the local communities and (makes) every effort to abate noise when possible.”
