Bilbray In, Peters Ahead, for November 52nd District Faceoff

The incumbent garnered the most support, while Democrat Scott Peters came in second, less than 650 votes ahead of Lori Saldana.

Incumbent Rep. Brian Bilbray led his two main Democratic challengers all evening in the race to represent several coastal and north suburban communities in Congress; Scott Peters will face Bilbray again in November.

The 52nd Congressional District was redrawn to cover Coronado and La Jolla, and drifts east to also take in Rancho Bernardo and Poway.

With all precincts reporting, but in unofficial results, Bilbray received 41.3 percent of the vote while former San Diego council president Peters received 22.58 percent of the vote.

Lori Saldana, a former state Assemblywoman, received 21.98 percent of the vote, and seven candidates split the remainder of the votes.
