Atkins Cruises in 78th Assembly District

The incumbent scored more than double the votes of her nearest challenger, Republican Ralph Denney.

Incumbent Toni Atkins received more than twice the number of votes that her nearest challenger Ralph Denney did in their race to represent the 78th state Assembly District.

The redrawn district includes Coronado, La Jolla, Point Loma, Imperial Beach and Solana Beach.

The top two vote-getters will meet in the November general election.

Atkins is a former San Diego City Council member, while challengers Ralph Denney and Robert Williams are respectively, a small business owner and a Republican Central Committee member.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting:

  • Atkins has received 59.57 percent of the vote.
  • Denney has received 28.08  percent of the vote.
  • Williams has received 12.35 percent of the vote.

This is a great event. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a fun and enrichingRead More experience for my family. We need to get the word out about this helpful event in Coronado for the future. It was a learning experience for children and adults alike. I feel better now with my daughter riding her bike on the busy streets of Coronado. Thanks again to all of the Police Officers, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and local volunteers.
