Suspect Arrested in Weekend Assault

A woman jogging early Saturday morning in the 1000 block of Ocean Avenue was assaulted and Coronado police detained a suspect at approximately 6:15 p.m. at the corner of Seventh Street and Orange Avenue, according to authorities.

The woman was jogging at 5:55 a.m. when she struggled with the suspect, who ran northbound on Ocean Avenue after being scared away, according to police. Devon Carlton Dunlap, 20, was arrested and will be charged in connection with the case, according to police.

Coronado police were on the lookout Saturday for a suspect that was described as an adult male, Caucasian or possibly Asian, 20-30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build. He was said to be wearing a hooded sweatshirt, long khaki pants, white baseball cap and oversized eyeglasses with black frames.
