Update: Police Find Missing Man, 84

Officers were called in after Robert Souther was last seen near Coronado Retirement Village Wednesday morning.

Coronado police found an elderly missing adult Wednesday hours after he failed to come home from a morning walk. 

Robert Souther, 84, was found safe at at the Coronado Shores shortly before 5 p.m., according to police spokeswoman Lea Corbin. Officers took his family to reunite them with Souther, who was waiting in a management office at the condominium complex, she said.

The police informed local media and the city tweeted Souther's description – 5'10 with a thin build and white/grey hair, wearing a cap, grey shirt and jeans. He was located about an hour after the alert went out.

Souther, a resident of the Coronado Retirement Village, was last seen just before 9 a.m. on Prospect Place near the home.

Relatives told police he often walks and favors the beach, parks and sitting on benches at local attractions.

Commander Michael Lawton said all those spots had been checked, along with buses and ferries, before Souther was found.
