In addition, Coronado Police Sgt. Matt Mitchell was recognized for his tremendous support and involvement in the San Diego County Avoid Program operations that help reduce DUIs with driver checkpoints.

At the San Diego County awards presentation, guests heard from a victim of a DUI collision. She described the impact on her life after recovering from numerous broken bones and the amputation of her left hand and forearm.
