Police identified the man taken into custody Monday after being stopped by Coronado officers as Abraham Leon, 29, of San Diego.
He is charged with one count of resisting an officer and was also found to have two outstanding misdemeanor warrants, one for a DUI and another for driving on a suspended license.
Officers arrested Leon after he hid from them following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Alameda Boulevard shortly before 9 p.m. Monday.
The search focused on Tolita and F avenues and a San Diego County Sheriffs helicopter was crucial to helping officers spot Leon, said Cmdr. Michael Lawton.
A female passenger in Leon's vehicle was not found.
