Crowds Flock to Fire Open House

The department's annual block party draws the curious to tour headquarters, climb aboard trucks and see demonstrations of what firefighters can do.

The Coronado Fire Department drew residents and even the curious from other parts of the county to its annual Open House Sunday, when the crowd enjoyed mingling with public safety officials, climbing aboard fire trucks and stepping inside the bay inside the main fire house for an information fair.

The event shut down parts of 6th Street, and D and Palm avenues, for rides, demonstrations and music and dancing. Take in some of the sights in the media box.
