Coronado Police Earn $1,816 in Tip-a-Cop Fundraiser

San Diego County law enforcement participated in the event earlier this week in La Mesa.

Four officers from Coronado, along with officers from around San Diego County, traded in their handcuffs for aprons Thursday night. The officers served patrons at Claim Jumper Restaurant in La Mesa.

During this fundraiser, the officers donated their tips to the Special Olympics. All tips are tax deductible and support sports training and competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

For every $20 someone donated, the donor had the choice of a San Diego Police Department K-9 stuffed toy dog or a Special Olympics T-shirt.

The Special Olympics is not officially endorsed by the City of Coronado; but is the charity of choice of the Police Department.
