Coronado Bridge Road Rage Driver Heading Back to Court

Phillip M. Eggers is accused of assault after allegedly deliberately hitting a motorcycle in May on the bridge.

On Wednesday, the courts scheduled another readiness conference for a man who is accused of using his car to ram a motorcycle in a road rage incident in May on the Coronado Bridge, injuring two people. The readiness confernce was scheduled for Sept. 26.

Phillip Eggers, of El Cajon, reported hit Rodney and Roxanne Finnell on May 18.

In June, Rodney Finnell told the court that Eggers had cut him off in his BMW. A witness testified, according to 10News, that the Finnells drove close to the BMW, making their displeasure known and giving Eggers the finger.

Eggers then is accused of swerving into the motorcycle, knocking the Finnells to the ground.

“I watched the driver of the BMW look, make eye contact and then turn the wheel … into them," the witness testified.

An off-duty San Diego police officer saw the incident and pursued Eggers into Coronado so city police could arrest him.

He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
