Burglar Takes Coins from Coronado Laundry Rooms

The complexes were located in the 1600 block of Pomona, 1000 block of A Avenue, and 200 block of D Avenue.

Coronado Police are looking for an unknown suspect(s) who has been breaking into laundry rooms at area condominium and apartment complexes and stealing money from the coin-operated washing machines.

Police recently released reports of three incidents between Dec. 8-17.

The suspect(s) pried open two coin-operated washing machines on the 200 block of D Avenue between Dec. 8-15 and stole the coins, police reported. The damage was estimated at $150 per machine and the estimate loss in coins was $100 from each machine.

Next, the thief entered the laundry room of the Park Life Real Estate Condominium Complex on the 1600 block of Pomona Avenue and vandalized two coin-operated washing machines between Dec. 10-11, according to police. The exact loss was unknown at the time of the report.

Then, two coin-operated washing machines on the 1000 block of A Avenue between Dec. 13-17 were hit up. Police said the damage was estimated at $150 per machine and an estimated $100 was stolen from each machine.

The Coronado Police are asking for property management companies and the public’s help in addressing these crimes. Police asked residents to report any suspicious persons or noises coming from complex laundry rooms with coin operated machines and to immediately report any theft from laundry rooms. In addition, police asked property management and residence to check to ensure doors and windows are secured to their laundry rooms, particularly at night.
