Bomb Squad Determines Suspicious Object Is Pillow

Item was found near the senior center. A passerby summoned an officer.

Police called in the San Diego County Sheriffs Department after reports of a suspicious object near the Senior Center at Orange Avenue and 7th Street shortly after noon, but the item was found to be a pillow.

A passerby flagged down an officer after spotting the item, which police spokeswoman Lea Corbin said might have appeared suspicious because it had straps on it.

Police shut down one block of Orange and one block of 7th for about an hour, Corbin said. The senior center also was evacuated.
