Bike Thief Caught in Coronado
Robert Carlos Vasquez is charged with stealing a bicycle on the 1300 block of Orange Avenue on Monday and on the 900 block of Orange Avenue on Saturday.
Coronado Police arrested suspected bike thief Robert Carlos Vasquez, 37, on Monday for two counts of grand theft.
Police noticed a Vasquez, of Chula Vista, walking on the 1300 block of Orange Avenue at 8:15 p.m. He was reportedly acting suspiciously near several bicycles.
Coronado Police said it had seen Vasquez earlier in the evening riding a bike.

“The man then left the area on foot, reappearing moments later riding a different bicycle than he had been seen with earlier,” police said in a statement.
Vasquez was arrested a few blocks away after he admitted to stealing the bicycle, police said.

He is also a suspect in the theft of a bicycle from the 900 block of Orange Avenue on Saturday.
