3 Injured in Corvette Car Crash on Silver Strand
Both lanes of State Route 75 southbound into Imperial Beach were closed at one time as a result of the accident that sent three people to UC San Diego Medical Center Monday with moderate injuries.
Three people were brought to UC San Diego Medical Center after a collision on State Route 75 when a Corvette that ran out of gas was hit from behind, according to U-T San Diego.
The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. Monday in southbound lanes south of the Coronado Cays heading to Imperial Beach, according to the city of Coronado.
Coronado Police Department spokeswoman Lea Corbin said the driver who hit the Corvette was looking down at a cell phone at the time of the accident.
Both southbound lanes were closed at one point. Lanes that were closed to deal with the accident began to reopen by 6:30 p.m.
